How much of Buddhism is borrowed from Bön?
Some Buddhists claim that Bön is completely plagiarized from Buddhism.
Bönpos simply state that Shakyamuni was a student of Tönpa Shenrap’s in a previous birth and was directed to bring Theravada to where he did and when. All of Mahayana – to include Tantra and Dzogchen derived from Bön.
Personally I find it a pointless discussion as it does not reduce suffering nor take anybody to enlightenment.
