Creation and Completion
Hi all
In regards to three inner tantras, why would creation be emphasized over completion, or vise versa? Why would they not be equally emphasized?
Thanks!

Bodhicitta, put simply.
Re: Creation and Completion
Actually, creation and completion practices are both equally stressed. It's just because that in general most people can only handle the creation stage practices and they cannot cope well if given completion stage practices as well, that creation stage practices seem more emphasized.
We can only blame ourselves, our busy lifestyles, and our dullness for this.

briefly
Bodhicitta (byang chub sems) is intention, and application. On a relative sutra level it is a wish to gain buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings, as well as path of compassion, love, six paramitas and so forth. Another side would be byang chub sems as rangjung yeshe which is self arising wisdom, beyond any limits, hindrances etc. Most teachers teach the sutra level of paths and stages etc, very few teach the latter. But we must understand that even we are doing sutra/tantra path of stages, renunciation, purification, transformation, we are still doing creation and completion, we are sending and receiving, we are gaining merit and wisdom, we are visualizing and dissolving entering into emptiness, yidam practice and mantra recitation etc, gaining experience of instant presence of our three vajra states, slowly, slowly building. So we can gain knowledge and insight, it is right there in our daily sadhanas. So byang chub sems is taught, most are introduced in this way, we enter into that compassionate intention and we apply that to the path. Bodhicitta in Ati dzog chen has different meaning.
Or simpler still, a different way of presentation of later Sarma schools from ancient tradition.
